Water rights can have multiple diversion points, authorizations, and owners. The water rights authorization point data provided in this dataset is associated to the entire water right, and should not be disagregated to individual owners without an in-depth review of the water right and any associated documents.
Points are added as new water rights and amendments are issued. Points added varies from GPS points to Water Right Adjudication documents (maps).
TCEQ staff reviews application materials and maps provided by applicants and performs a QA/QC of these items during processing of an application. In addition, TCEQ staff performs ongoing reviews of older data to ensure it is accurate
TCEQ is providing its water rights point data as a courtesy and service to its stakeholders and stives to provide accurate data according to the resources available. Water rights feature locations are based on the existing water right.
